Big B's second Bengali film

After Shakti Samanta's ANUSANDHAN, Big B's first Bengali film in the 1980s, this week witnesses the release of his second Bengali film - ORA KARA [the Bengali version of HUM KAUN HAI?] - in Bengal. While the Hindi version will hit the screens across the globe this Friday, it won't be released in Bengal because the Bengali version is being opened there. We shot the two versions simultaneously, HUM KAUN HAI?/ORA KARA producer Soni Juneja informs me, at a closed-door screening of this film. Since Bachchan is a non-Bengali, one would've expected a dubbing artiste to dub his portions for the Bengali version, but the legend insisted on dubbing his lines himself. I flew to Chandigarh, where Mr. Bachchan was shooting for another film, and we recorded the Bengali dialogues in his van, Soni enlightens. Wish some of our present-day stars were as dedicated as the veterans!
