The trailer of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was recently unveiled, offering audiences a glimpse into a comedy-filled entertainer packed with romance, confusion, and signature David Dhawan humour. During the trailer launch event, actor Varun Dhawan opened up about recreating the iconic track ‘Chunnari Chunnari’, originally featuring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, and spoke about the challenge of bringing a fresh spin to the popular song.
The recreated version in the film features Varun alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. Speaking about revisiting the well-known track, the actor admitted that the process was both exciting and challenging.
Recreating the song with Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur was “definitely exciting,” Varun shared, adding that the team first heard the track while they were in Scotland. “Ramesh created the song beautifully,” he said and further added, “All the songs were made by Ramesh, while the music company handled the production side.”
Varun also explained that the recreated version has been designed differently to suit the film’s comic tone and storyline. “The challenge was about committing to the song and the situation in the film. In our movie, the context in which the song appears is completely different because it’s a comedy film. There’s a fun ‘double trouble’ situation happening, whether the character is with one girl or both girls, that confusion itself creates the humor,” he said.
His comments have further heightened curiosity around the film’s storyline, especially after the actor hinted at another surprise twist during the climax. Varun teased that audiences may see the entry of another actress towards the end of the film, though he stopped short of revealing further details. The statement immediately sparked speculation among fans online about who the mystery actor could be.
Directed by David Dhawan, the film marks yet another collaboration between the filmmaker and Varun Dhawan. Apart from Varun, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur, the film also stars Maniesh Paul, Mouni Roy, Jimmy Shergill, Rakesh Bedi, and Chunky Panday in key roles. Billed as a family comedy entertainer, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is slated to release in cinemas on June 5.
