By Bollywood Hungama News Network

Toilet - Ek Prem Katha (29)

The Shree Narayan Singh directed social satire Toilet – Ek Prem Katha released yesterday. Starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, the film opened at a moderate note in the morning but soon picked up in the afternoon and evening shows. The positive reviews and a good word of mouth have helped the film and it is expected to do well in the coming days.

In this box office report, we take a look at the opening day collections of Toilet – Ek Prem Katha while comparing the same to Akshay Kumar’s previously released films. Toilet – Ek Prem Katha collected Rs. 13.10 cr and it ranks as Akshay Kumar’s ninth highest opening day grosser. While the film does not surpass the actor’s previous releases like Singh is Bliing that collected Rs. 20.67 cr, Housefull 3 that collected Rs. 15.21 cr, Brothers that collected Rs. 15.2 cr, Rowdy Rathore that collected Rs. 15.10 cr, Boss that collected Rs. 14.50 cr and Jolly LLB 2 that collected Rs. 13.20 cr, it does manage to out beat his other films like Gabbar Is Back that collected Rs. 13.05 cr, Tees Maar Khan that collected Rs. 13 cr and Airlift that collected Rs. 12.35 cr. Interestingly, if Toilet – Ek Prem Katha had earned Rs 10 lakhs more, it would have beaten Jolly LLB 2 and emerged as his eighth highest opening day grosser. Moreover, if the film had earned Rs 5 lakhs less, it would have become Akshay Kumar’s tenth highest grosser.

Toilet – Ek Prem Katha faces no competition at the box office and it remains to be seen if it emerges as Akshay Kumar’s highest opening weekend grosser.
