“OTT platforms are not open to the Kannada film industry. That is a very bad sign,” Shetty said. “They say there are no subscribers here, they are looking into the matter and thinking.”
Shetty went on to say that two production houses, Rakshit Shetty’s Paramvah Studios and his own Rishab Shetty Films, have been actively producing Kannada films during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite their efforts, these films are still struggling to find a place on OTT platforms.
“We are actively doing film festivals, but they are not taking the films,” Shetty said. “So I wanted to make a request to IFFI and its sponsors to give recognition to our films … films which have less exposure in theatres should also get some recognition and they should be taken to OTT platforms.”
Coming to the professional front, Shetty recently made headlines for the prequel of Kantara, titled Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1. The makers dropped the first look and it managed to garner 12M+ views on YouTube. The teaser showcases an ominous yet captivating look of the actor-director. The filming is scheduled to kick off at the end of December.
