Anil Kapoor hailed the performances of everyone including Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and dropped a special thanks to A.R. Rahman.

Ponniyin Selvan, based on the novel of Kalki Krishnamurthy, has been enthralling audiences in theatres with its second part which was released last week, on April 28. Anil Kapoor, who had an opportunity to catch PS 2 with the filmmaker Mani Ratnam, reviewed it and was all praises for the magnum opus. Starring Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles, the second part is a continuation of the instalment which was released in September 2022 and is set against the backdrop of the Chola Empire.

Anil Kapoor took to Twitter to share a few photographs featuring him as he interacted with director Mani Ratnam and his actress-wife Suhasini. Talking about the film, Anil posted, “Watching #ManiRatnam’s #PS2 was an exhilarating experience! The gripping drama, enchanting music and epic scale had me hooked from the very start! A special shoutout to #Chiyan who is fantastic, #aishwaryaraibachchan is brilliant in a difficult role...” He continued, “@arrahman whose music lifts the film to an epic level, my friend #RaviVarman is cinematography is the highlight of the film and @ekalakhani who has killed it with the costumes.”

Besides that, Anil also expressed gratitude towards the team for inviting him to be a part of this experience. “I am privileged and honoured to be a part of #PS2 in a small way … Congratulations to Mani Ratnam and the entire team for gifting Indian cinema with a real gem!” he said.

Followed by his kind words, Tamil superstar Chiyaan Vikram decided to express his thanks on the platform saying, “Thank you Mr Kapoor. Coming from a stalwart like you means a lot. You so easily made my month.” Even, A.R. Rahman dropped a thank you note as the Anil shared words of praises for his music composition in the film.

Ponniyin Selvan aka PS 2 also stars Sobhita Dhulipala as the wife of Jayam Ravi aka Ponniyin Selvan with Trisha Krishnan and Chiyaan Vikram playing the latter’s siblings. The film features Karthi as Vanthiyathevan along with Aishwarya Lekshmi in the role of Poonguzhali. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is seen in a dual role in the film.
