Shared on Easter, the post cleverly blended festive imagery with hidden clues, igniting widespread speculation among Marvel enthusiasts.
The actor, who is set to return to the Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe, surprised fans by confirming that he will not reprise his iconic role as Iron Man. Instead, he will take on the mantle of the formidable Doctor Doom, marking a significant shift in his MCU journey.
In the now-viral Instagram post, Downey Jr. shared an image of Doctor Doom holding a basket filled with Easter eggs—each adorned with symbols referencing various Marvel characters and teams. Fans quickly decoded several visual hints, including a blood-stained shield associated with Captain America, alongside nods to Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Avengers—the latter depicted through a cracked egg.

Among the most talked-about references were those to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, with the latter intriguingly crossed out, prompting theories about their role in the film. Additional symbols pointed toward characters like Namor and Shang-Chi. Eagle-eyed fans also noticed not one but two Spider-Man-themed eggs, further fuelling speculation about multiple versions of the web-slinger appearing in the film.
