Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12^th Fail completed 100 days in cinema halls recently on February 2. The film is a biopic on the real IPS (Indian Police System) officer Manoj Sharma who reached his goal while combating various obstacles. It saw Vikrant Massey play Sharma while Medha Shankr played the role of his wife.

The makers held the success event of the movie in Mumbai last evening where Chopra spoke in depth about the journey of the making of 12^th Fail. The filmmaker is known for being funny. The most hilarious moment happened at the event when he revealed what his wife and veteran journalist Anupama Chopra said when she came to know that her husband will be releasing 12^th Fail in theatres.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, “When we were releasing this film, I was told by everyone, including my dearest wife, to put it out on OTT. She said, ‘Nobody will go to see Vinod. Teri film aur Vikrant ki film ko dekhne koi nahin jayega (laughs). I would like to tell this clearly today in front of everyone. (She said) ‘Koi nahin jayega. Tujhe pata nahin hai, tu filmo ke saath connected nahin hai. Tujhe pata nahin hai, jayega hi nahin koi.’ And there are these agencies who write, ‘Rs. 2 lakhs ki opening’, ‘Rs. 30 lakhs ka lifetime business’. Mujhe dara diya sabne. But still, I believed in the film, so we put in our own money to publicize it. And it opened very small. But that’s okay. And look at where we are.”

Later in the event, Anupama Chopra admitted to have said the aforementioned to Vidhu Vinod Chopra before the film’s release. She said, “He is right. I did say who will come to the theatres to see this film. So I am saying I was wrong and you were right.”
