Singer-songwriter The Weeknd released the official music video for 'Gasoline', off his latest album, Dawn FM. In the music video, The Weeknd seems to get in a gruesome confrontation with his older self.
Like the Clip for Sacrifice, the Matilda Finn-directed 'Gasoline' video is primarily set in the midst of a wild yet disturbing dance party, which The Weeknd’s old man character stumble upon after a car crash. The man tries to make his way through the dancing throngs- which exhibit some serious living dead qualitites- and he inevitably finds himself face to face with his younger self, The Weeknd.
The meeting, however, quickly turns violent as the Weeknd savagely beats the old man with a nasty grin on his face.
The album's lead single, 'Take My Breath', was released digitally on music stores and streaming services on August 6, 2021. The song peaked at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100. Its music video was premiered alongside its release and was directed by Cliqua.
'Sacrifice' was released as the second official single in tandem with Dawn FM on January 7, 2022. Its music video was released on the same day. Its storyline follows the plot previously established by the 'Take My Breath' music video. 'I Heard You're Married' featuring Lil Wayne was originally meant to be sent to American rhythmic contemporary radio as the album's third single on January 11, 2022, however its release as a single was cancelled.
The Weeknd released Dawnn FM last Friday, January 7, after announcing the album earlier in the week. The LP follows the singer’s 2020 smash, After Hours, and it features contributions from Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, Jim Carrey, Max Martin and Onehotrix Point Never.
