The year 2023 was important for Bollywood and the Khans. For a long time, a film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Aamir Khan would emerge as the highest grosser of the year. In 2017, it was Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that took the tag of the biggest Hindi hit of the year. Since then, the Khans took a backseat. In 2018, it was Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju that was the biggest blockbuster in 2018. In 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, the biggest hits were War, Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior, Sooryavanshi and KGF - Chapter 2 respectively. Finally, in 2023, the Khans took back the tag. Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan was the biggest hit by miles and it proved that the superstar is here to stay and rule.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan might not have a release in 2024. Hence, which film according to the trade can emerge as the highest grosser of next year? Trade guru Komal Nahta said, “I would place my bet on Pushpa 2 – The Rule and Fighter.” The latter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, releases on Republic Day 2024.

Raj Bansal said, “Pushpa 2 – The Rule will be a huge blockbuster and could be the biggest hit of 2024.” He shared his views on the other films that he’s hopeful about, “I am expecting Fighter to be a big success. I have high hopes for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Singham Again will also be a hit.” He continued, “Welcome To The Jungle should be exciting if it’s made well. It has an exciting assembly of a lot of actors and actresses.”

Film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi is highly confident of Singham Again, “If you combine the core fan base of all the actors who are there in Singham Again and if fans of Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone buy a ticket even once, that by itself can lead to a huge number. I have no doubts that it won’t be just one of the biggest openers of 2024, but maybe the decade. It can also be one of the highest grossers of Hindi cinema ever.” He further added, “It’s a true blue multi-starrer that’s happening after such a long time.”

He also talked highly of Pushpa 2 – The Rule and felt that both films can cross the Rs. 600 crore mark, “The potential is also there. Films like Singham Again and Pushpa 2 – The Rule have the potential to do unprecedented numbers.”

Pushpa 2 – The Rule is the sequel to the much-loved mass blockbuster, Pushpa: The Rise - Part 01 (2021), starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. Singham Again, meanwhile, has become quite a hot product as it stars Ajay Devgn in the much-loved character of Bajirao Singham. Going by the previous films of Rohit Shetty Spy Universe, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh will also star in the action entertainer, reprising the roles of Sooryavanshi and Simmba respectively. And that’s not all. Deepika Padukone will be seen as a badass cop while Tiger Shroff also joins the universe. Further, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor’s casting have added to the excitement.
