Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has been receiving immense appreciation for its quintessential Bollywood flavour and ‘Tum Kya Mile’ is just the perfect music tadka the film needed. Set against the snow-capped mountain backdrop, the song presents the mood of romantic numbers from the 90s and since Alia Bhatt is not well-versed with lip-syncing for such slow numbers, she decided to take the help of Shah Rukh Khan. And joining them in this session was SRK’s daughter and soon-to-be-debutant Suhana Khan.
Earlier today, at a recently held Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani press conference, Alia Bhatt confessed that she was quite nervous to shoot ‘Tum Kya Mile’ because she not only lacked experience in shooting romantic numbers but also because she was resuming the shoot after a few months post her maternity break. Alia said, “I was very nervous to do a lip sync song, and I was doing it after ‘Ishq Wala Love’ (SOTY). May be, it was returning to shoot after a few months but there was this inherent kind of nervousness. So, I was discussing this with Karan and he asked me 'Why don't you call Shah Rukh Khan and ask him for tips?'”
She further revealed that her idea was to discuss over the phone, SRK invited her home and patiently helped her until she exceled it. “I called him to talk on the phone and said, 'I just want to understand how you do it because nobody lip syncs like you'. But he said, 'tu ghar aaja (you come home)... Suhana also wants to learn this and dono milke ek class karenge. Tu gaana leke aaja (both of you together can attend this class. You get your song)'. So, I was with him for two-three hours and Suhana and me we were singing (lip syncing) an entire song together,” she continued.
Opening up about the extended version of this romantic number, Alia added, “Uska ek extended version hai jo humne release nahi kiya (there is an extended version of the song which we are yet to release) which Shreya has sung ekdam beautifully, the video of it will be released soon. It was going really fast aur main bahut hyper ho rahi thi. But the way he broke down and made me download an app etc. and he said yeh baar baar karogi (he asked me to do it repeatedly) and made me learn the song by the end of it. It just shows how generous, and a large-hearted man he is. I don't know if it will help for this film or not, but it is an irreplaceable experience for me in my life," Alia concluded.

Earlier, Vaibhavi Merchant had revealed in an interview that Karan Johar had mentioned that the song ‘Tum Kya Mile’ is his way of paying a tribute to the iconic number ‘Tujhe Dekha Toh’ from the cult romantic classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
