en Bollywood News Raj Mandir Cinema celebrates 50 years with FREE shows of iconic films; Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge gets rare second outing after missing its 1995 release; Chupke Chupke makes its debut in the ICONIC Jaipur theatre

Raj Mandir, considered by many as India’s finest single screen cinema, completed 50 years of its existence on June 1. As part of the golden jubilee celebrations, the theatre is playing 5 iconic films today, that too free of charge. These films are Chupke Chupke (1975) at 8:00 am, Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) at 11:00 am, Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985) at 3:00 pm, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) at 6:30 pm and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) at 10:30 pm.

Bollywood Hungama contacted distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal, who releases all films of Yash Raj in Rajasthan. He said, “The management of Raj Mandir expressed the desire to play Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as part of the 50-year celebrations. Interestingly, the film wasn’t released in the theatre when it was originally released in 1995. But they insisted on playing it as it’s a very popular film. I contacted the team of Yash Raj Films (YRF) and they granted permission to screen the film.”

This is the second time that Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has been released in Raj Mandir. In March 2021, during the Covid era, the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer ran here for a couple of weeks. During its original release, the theatre was unable to play the film as they were committed to playing some other movie.

Chupke Chupke was also never released in Raj Mandir, as it arrived in cinemas a year before Raj Mandir commenced operations. Hence, this is the first time that Ram Mandir played the much loved Dharmendra starrer. The rest of the three films – Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Ram Teri Ganga Maili and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – ran successfully in the iconic theatre during its original run.

Milestones in the 50-year journey of Raj Mandir
A 50-year celebration of Raj Mandir took place in the theatre in March 2025 to coincide with 50 years of Sholay (1975) and 25 years of IIFA Awards, which were held last year in the Pink City. The first film which was screened at the theatre was Charas (1976), starring Dharmendra and Hema Malini.

At the March 2025 event, some fascinating trivia of the film was shared with the attendees. The Raj Mandir team revealed at the beginning of the event that nearly 45 films had completed more than 100 days in their cinema hall, 10 of which are from Sooraj Barjatya’s Rajshri Productions. They then played an AV listing 19 of these 45 movies.

The film that has run the longest in Raj Mandir is none other than Hum Aapke Hain Koun, starring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit and directed by Sooraj Barjatya. It played in the theatre for a record 525 days, that is nearly 1 ½ years. Ram Teri Ganga Maili came next and it ran there for a whopping 497 days.
