Namashi Chakraborty on not mentioning mother Yogeeta Bali’s name during Bad Boy promotions; says, “Had my mom been active…” : Bollywood News

Namashi Chakraborty’s debut flick Bad Boy has released in theatres today all across India. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the movie also marks the debut for Amrin Qureshi, who is cast opposite Namashi.

The young actor has been busy promoting the movie on various platforms and through interviews. It is worth noticing that throughout the promotions of Bad Boy, Namashi has been mentioned as Mithun Chakraborty’s son whereas his mom and actress Yogeeta Bali’s name isn’t mentioned. After all, the veteran actress acted in over 100 movies.

Answering this, Namashi told Indian Express in a conversation, “It’s not that. It is because my mom retired 38 years ago. Had my mom been active, we would have definitely mentioned her. I don’t think Esha Deol is only known as Dharmendra’s daughter. She is also known as Hema Malini’s daughter. Janhvi (Kapoor) and Khushi (Kapoor) are, even now, known as Sridevi’s daughters. It’s just that my mom completely vanished from the limelight, and she didn’t even want to be in the limelight. So, I think, this is one reason why my father is talked about more, but I agree with your point. I am also Yogeeta Bali’s son.”

Namashi also revealed that Yogeeta Bali doesn’t like revisiting her films. “She feels embarrassed seeing these,” he said. “She says bandh karo, bandh karo (stop this right away), especially the ones she did later in her career. But she has done 110 films. I love her film Parde Ke Peechey (1971). She started working when she was fourteen. She was a child, so she is very embarrassed about all that,” said Namashi.

Coming back to Bad Boy, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi didn’t have a film released 10 years after Phata Poster Nikla Hero (2013). He made a comeback earlier this year with Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh. This is the first time in his career that he has had more than one release in a year.
