So, finally the wait is over and Karan Johar has DROPPED the teaser of his ambitious next, Kalank – a period film set in pre independence era. Now, the film has a rich star cast and is helmed by the 2 States director Abhishek Varman! That itself was making us all desperate for the movie. Now, after watching the teaser we are although more impressed with its sheer scale, imagery and a promise of spell binding performances. Here are 7 moments which will make you watch this teaser on repeat.
1: A promise of larger-than-life grandiose right from the beginning
Kalank is a moving story about love and loss, by judging the teaser it sure is not for weaklings. The love saga transpires generations and every character here as a purpose. The main highlight of the movie will be its grand visuals and of course, the beautiful camera work mapping the pre independent India. For a moment one can get confused it these are Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s sets for you have heritage havelis, beautiful topography and of course the STUNNING costumes and jewellery.
2: Varun Dhawan’s fiery entry
Varun’s entry from the first frame itself sets tone for his characterisation in the film. His introduction to the shot is him being shirtless and working in a furnace. A powerful image indeed.
3: Alia Bhatt’s steely, intense presence
Alia’s character Roop is a strong woman with her own ideals and the teaser sure gives us an idea about the same. Pure fire, Alia’s one gaze is enough to make anyone go weak in their knees. Check it out for yourself.
4: Aditya Roy Kapur – Alia Bhatt’s wedding twist
Alia Bhatt is paired opposite Varun Dhawan in the film but it is shown in the teaser that she gets married to Aditya Roy Kapur. There is a killer dialogue given to her: Jab Kisi Aur Ki Barbaadi Apni Jeet Jaisi Lage Toh Humse Zada Barbaad Koi Aur Nahi Hai Is Duniya Me.
5: Varun’s bull fight
There is an awesome sauce scene in the teaser where Varun Dhawan is charging at a bull with blood dripping out of his forehead. The scene looks breathtakingly brilliant and creates a perfect cliff-hanger.
6: Sanjay Dutt – Madhuri Dixit in ONE frame after decades
Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit have come together after DECADES and Kalank sure is a tribute to their on screen and off screen association!
7: Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan’s bittersweet moment together
The last shot of Alia and Varun meeting together on Dusshera with an effigy of Ravana burning in the backdrop is a sight for million bucks. Do check it out.
