Undoubtedly, Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh has left the audience wanting for more. The trailer and the track sung by Arijit Singh are in demand. One of the many reasons is that it is a remake of Arjun Reddy which starred Vijay Deverakonda. Arjun Reddy marked the directorial debut of Sandeep Vanga and the film became a blockbuster. Now, the makers are leaving no stone unturned when in the Hindi version as well. But, did you know Arjun Kapoor was also approached for the role?
Recently, during Kabir Singh promotions, Sandeep Vanga was asked whether Arjun Kapoor was also approached for the role which eventually went to Shahid Kapoor. The filmmaker revealed that it was true but he was also in talks with Shahid and he couldn’t just jump onto another actor. It wasn’t about who has more caliber, it was about commitment according to the director.
When asked about the challenges he faced during the making of Kabir Singh since it is set in North India, Sandeep revealed that the real challenge was to create a Punjabi boy who was born and raised in Mumbai but moves to Delhi to study medicine. For him, the important part was to get the meter and colloquial accent right. He has loved the way Arjun Reddy has metamorphosed into Kabir Singh. He added that people in South India, those from Telangana, they are a bit louder when it comes to expressing their emotions. The same goes for Punjabis as well.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga also revealed that he named his son since he was born during the filming of the Vijay Deverakonda starrer.
Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga who has directed by Arjun Reddy as well. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar & Ashwin Varde and is releasing on June 21, 2019.
