Janhvi Kapoor calls Mili a ‘challenging role’ of her career; says she wants to make her parents proud : Bollywood News

Mili starring Janhvi Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal and Manoj Pahwa in prominent roles, is helmed by National Award Winner Mathukutty Xavier and marks the first-ever collaboration of Boney Kapoor with his daughter Janhvi. The trailer was unveiled on Saturday, October 16. The film is the remake of the Malayalam movie, Helen. It has all the trappings of a nail-biting thriller and showcases Janhvi in a never-seen-before avatar.

Talking about the Mili's trailer launch, Janhvi said, “Mili has been one of the most challenging roles of my career and I'm very excited! I'm grateful to Mathukutty sir, who brought out the very best in me on screen. We shot in -10 degrees and fell ill but it was all so gratifying. I just want to make my parents proud.”

Producer Boney Kapoor added, “This is my first collaboration with Janhvi as a producer and she has performed phenomenally well. The entire team has worked immensely hard and Janhvi has managed to create a niche for herself after Dhadak and Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl. She carries Sridevi's DNA and has grown so much as an actor. A.R. Rahman has aced the music Mathukutty has brought out the best in Sunny and Manoj as well.”

Director Mathukutty Xavier said, “This film will be high on emotions, keeping the audiences on the edge of their seat with its brilliant narrative. It’s been a privilege to collaborate with Boney Sir and Janhvi for the film. I look forward to the next coming days. There was no ice-breaking needed with Janhvi.”

Mili's music is backed by the musical maestro A.R. Rahman, who has won several awards. The lyrics have been penned by Javed Akhtar, who called the movie absolutely riveting at the trailer launch.

The original movie Helen is a story of a young nurse who wishes to relocate to Canada. However, things take an ugly turn when she does not return home from work and suddenly disappears. The film stars Anna Ben in the title role, while Lal, Noble Babu Thomas, Aju Varghese, Rony David, and Binu Pappu appear in supporting roles.

Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor and directed by Mathukutty Xavier, 'Mili' is scheduled to release in cinemas on November 4, 2022.

Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor will next star in Mr. and Mrs. Mahi starring alongside Roohi co-star Rajkummar Rao and Bawaal with Varun Dhawan. Both projects are scheduled for 2023 release.
