Actor Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli's 10-month-old daughter Vamika received rape threats on Twitter after the Indian cricket team lost to the Pakistan team a few weeks back during the ongoing T20 world cup match. On Wednesday, the Mumbai Police arrested a 23-year-old man from Hyderabad for tweeting rape threat to Vamika.

The accused has been identified as Ramnagesh Srinivas Akubathini and is reportedly an IIT Graduate. Reacting to the news, actor Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter and wrote, "I’m really glad to hear the Mumbai Police cyber cell have located and arrested the creep who tweeted rape threats to a child. Now hoping for similar swift action in cases of female journalists who receive rape threats almost on a daily basis."

Ramnagesh Akubathini will be brought to Mumbai and will be produced before the court in the city. As per reports, he works at a software department of a food delivery platform.

Earlier, this month the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) had sent a notice to the Delhi Police seeking a response over rape threats made to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's daughter on social media.
