Saaho is South super star Prabhas’s next big release after Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and he is pulling out all stops to make it another blockbuster. Recently there were reports of Salman Khan doing a special cameo in Saaho, a rumour which director Sujeeth was prompt to refute. He had added that the cast and crew had completed the shoot with the espionage-thriller being in post-production and Salman was not even approached. We have news that Salman was approached for sure and that talks between him and the South super star has not fallen through yet...

Says a trade source, “Salman Khan had definitely been approached for a special appearance in Saaho. Kannada star Kichcha Sudeep and Prabhas are good friends and it’s possible when the Baahubali actor was looking for a top Bollywood star to feature in a stylised cameo for Saaho for a more pan-Indian audience, Sudeep, who is acting in Dabangg 3 and bonding with him, may have suggested Salman’s name. Saaho is being made on a budget of almost Rs. 300 crore with a lot of VFX and high-octane action sequences, and Prabhas and Sujeeth are making sure that it turns out to be one of the grandest releases this year on August 15. But while the talks between Salman and Prabha’s teams (including money and date negotiations) had barely started when the news was apparently leaked out to the media and Sujeeth had to give the denial almost immediately. Interestingly, Prabhas’s and Salman’s PR and marketing teams are the same.”

But the deal has not been spoiled completely, insists the source. “As far as Sujeeth’s denial is concerned, one is aware that sometimes directors and stars deny news till everything is finalised. The deal was yet to be signed when the news was leaked out and this time everyone on both the sides are being extra-cautious. While Salman’s role is a cameo, it’s a stylish, powerful and impactful one and involves a few days of shoot which can be done anywhere, given his dates. Talks are still on to see whether Salman can fit in a few days in his hectic schedule to shoot for Saaho. If Salman comes on board, even in a special appearance it will mean the combination of two of the current biggest super stars, and a huge incentive for both their fans and the box-office.”

Apart from Prabhas, the movie also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh as Nitin, Mahesh Manjrekar, Chunky Pandey and Jackie Shroff, among others. The movie is being shot simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
