EXCLUSIVE: Varun Dhawan reviews Brahmastra; calls Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor starrer a ‘big-screen watch’ : Bollywood News

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan returned to theatres after the pandemic with Jugjugg Jeeyo which was released in June 2022. It did decent box office business. Now, with the release of another Dharma Productions film Brahmastra, the Alia Bhatt – Ranbir Kapoor fantasy-mythology entertainer has made great collections at the box office. But, beyond that, there has been tremendous support coming in from the industry for a film that took seven years to make. Varun Dhawan says that he went to the theatres to watch the film.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Varun Dhawan admitted that it is a great time to be back at the cinemas. He said, “I saw Brahmastra when it released on the first day. I think it is a big-screen watch. I had a great time watching it – just with the audience and the energy you feel is great. It was good just doing that.”

Adding further, he revealed, “I, in fact, saw Laal Singh Chaddha in theatres. I have seen a couple of films like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Sooryavanshi.”

When asked whether he wears masks in order to quietly enjoy the movie experience, he said, “I wear a mask and go because I want to watch the film. I want to enjoy it.”

Interestingly, while it was the first time for Ranbir Kapoor to work with Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Alia debuted in the film industry with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year. They have worked in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badri Ki Dulhania and Kalank.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan will next star in the monster-comedy Bhediya with Kriti Sanon. The trailer will be out on October 19, 2022. Directed by Amar Kaushik, starring Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Deepak Dobriyal and Abhishek Banerjee among others, the film is produced by Dinesh Vijan and releasing in cinemas on November 25, 2022.

Varun Dhawan is also doing the Prime Video series which is the Hindi adaptation of the Russo Brothers’ upcoming production Citadel. While the original is starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, the Hindi version will see Varun with Samantha Ruth Prabhu. It will be helmed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
