Saqib Saleem will next be seen in Kabir Khan’s ’83. The multi-starrer film already has a lot of buzz going around because of its epic star cast. Saqib will be seen playing the role of legendary veteran cricketer, Mohinder “Jimmy” Amarnath and has been training tirelessly for the same. Currently on their shooting schedule in England, we at Bollywood Hungama managed to get in an exclusive conversation with Saqib where he spoke about ’83 and the KOOVS Blue Edit collection.
What does fashion mean to you?
For me fashion is of course what you’re comfortable in. I also feel it’s about your attitude and it says a lot about your frame of mind.
What can your fans expect from this new World-Cup inspired collection by Koovs – KoovsBlueEdit?
The KOOVSBlueEdit has been timed at a point when blue is the trending color of the season, with everyone supporting the Men in Blue. What is most interesting is that the looks were styled to showcase various ways one can wear blue. The looks vary from a twist to Camo to tropical to denim on denim with a touch of graffiti detailing. I feel it is a very fashionable way to support our World Cup streak!
What is that one piece of clothing from this collection you absolutely loved?
I absolutely love the Graffiti jacket and the Blue Camo jacket. Those two looks were my favorite and I loved how they looked.
What is the best thing about this collaboration with Koovs?
As I already mentioned, one is the timing of this campaign, and the other thing that makes it a fantastic collaboration is the thought that has gone into creating the campaign. Blue is topical at the moment, and this collaboration connects cricket with fashion in a very subtle and classy way.
What was your initial reaction when you were offered to portray the legendary Mohinder Amarnath?
I was the happiest person on this planet. So I reached out to Kabir sir once I got to know he is making the film. And when I met him he wanted to see how good my cricket game was, once we did a test about that, he said, challo let’s relive and win the world cup.
How has the experience so far been on the sets?
It’s going great we are having a great time. I knew some of the boys before but now I got to know everybody. It’s a fun bunch we are having a great time pulling each other’s leg, hanging out and shooting this film. It just feels like a school picnic, all of us together eating out from each other’s plate, having fun, pulling a prank on one another. So ya the shoot is coming all along great.
What is the most memorable moment from the sets so far?
Most memorable would be the day I got to meet and train under Kapil Dev sir and Jimmy sir.
Any pranks you guys pulled on each other?
As I said it feels like a school picnic, we pull a lot of pranks on each other.
