Actor Radhika Madan has revealed that emotionally intense scenes can be difficult for her to leave behind once filming wraps, admitting that she still finds it challenging to completely detach from her characters.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Madan opened up about the emotional toll that certain performances can take on her. Reflecting on her acting process, she said, “I am yet to learn how to switch on and switch off. It’s sad and it’s not something to be proud of because it really puts you in a different mind space and it’s not healthy mentally.” According to the actor, preparing for emotionally heavy sequences requires her to deeply immerse herself in the character’s psychological state. For Subedaar, she spent considerable time understanding the emotional journey of her character and discussing it with director Suresh Triveni.
“We had a lot of discussions about the backstory, how she sees her father, how she processes her mother’s death and why she reacts the way she does,” Madan explained. She added that understanding these emotional layers helped shape the character’s behaviour and body language on screen. In the film, Madan plays a character dealing with grief, anger and unresolved family tensions. She noted that the character often hides vulnerability behind a tough exterior. “The harshness that you see outside is sometimes a façade. Inside she is very vulnerable,” she said.
