From dark-comedy to crime-thriller, Bollywood actress Radhika Apte has never shied away from experimenting and trying different genres in films. After giving a stellar performance in Vikram Vedha, actress Radhika Apte is all set for the release of her next, titled Monica O My Darling.

During an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the acclaimed actress talked about a specific genre, sex comedy, while also elaborating on the advantages of intimacy coordinator and the need of awareness around it. “I’ve never had an intimacy coordinator,” she said, stressing on the fact that it is “Great. We absolutely need it.”

“People do get exploited and to be honest with you, people who exploit, don’t necessarily do it with intention either,” she added. “What I mean to say is that it’s in now DNA. So, the awareness that is required is not just women or men who are victims need awareness but people who are exploiting also need awareness in the sense that they also need to understand that their actions are wrong.”

Further sharing one such experience, Radhika said, “I was in a situation once where I was told to do something under so much pressure and I said ‘I’ll do it’ because I did agree with the vision and I did agree that that was necessary so, I did it. And I didn’t think about the fact that how it was done was wrong. And my agents lost it, and they were like ‘This is not okay.’”

“And the director was so scared, he called me and said, ‘I’m really sorry,” she continued. “I literally didn’t mean that.’ I said ‘I know you didn’t mean that’ but now that they’re telling me, I understand how wrong it was. So, I wasn’t aware that this is not okay, and he wasn’t aware that this is not okay.”

She added, “But the funny thing is if I had heard this as a story that it happened to somebody, I would have been like ‘That’s wrong.’ It’s such a fine line... I mean, sometimes it’s just very obvious. I just feel like we all need awareness.”

Speaking of Monica O My Darling, the film is slated to release on November 11 exclusively on Netflix. The Vasan Bala directorial also features Rajkummar Rao and Huma Qureshi. Radhika will be seen playing the character of a cop.
