If all goes well, on Dussehra (October 8) tomorrow, Karan Johar and Ayan Mukerji will launch the second teaser (and poster) of their hugely anticipated, fantasy adventure Brahmastra. Earlier this year, on Maha Shivratri, the team had launched the Brahmastra logo in a unique way, with a mix of modern technology and mythology. The event had deep religious and spiritual significance. With Ayan Mukerji and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt being present at Prayagraj (where the Kumbh Mela was also happening) for the event. Karan also got drones from abroad to light up the sky to launch the logo.
The Brahmastra, created by Lord Brahma, is an extremely powerful weapon, which can destroy the whole world. At the logo launch they announced (in Amitabh Bachchan’s voice) that the Brahmastra was ‘saare astra ke devta’ and only Ranbir could see it because he was associated with the last war of the weapon. The movie is being made in three parts and apart from Ranbir and Alia, stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjun, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy among others.
Says a trade source, “Brahmastra is the battle and victory of dharma or good over evil and Goddess Durga is the warrior form of Goddess Parvati. In Brahmastra, Ranbir plays a superhero called Shiva who possesses superpowers and a fiery weapon, similar to the nuclear weapon, which can destroy the world. According to mythology, Goddess Parvati took on the form of the Goddess Durga to destroy the demon Mahishasura. Alia is called Isha in the movie and Isha is another name of the Goddess Parvati. Dussehra celebrates Ram’s victory over Ravana and the triumph of good over evil and Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura to restore and protect dharma. It’s a day when we celebrate the victory of good (dharma) over evil and what better day than Dussehra to release the teaser and possibly a poster of Brahmastra on social media? Imagine the impact!”
According to the source a huge marketing and promotional campaign of Ayan’s movie has been planned in different stages. “Only a few days of shooting is left. To up the excitement level, another teaser promo/poster may release on Diwali this year. It all depends on whether the teaser and VFX connected with it is ready. The Brahmastra team is working around the clock for it. If everything goes well, the teaser and/or poster will come tomorrow. Apparently, last week Ayan had flown down to meet Nagarjuna in Hyderabad to discuss this. But we have to wait and watch because usually Karan Johar and his team plan everything in a systematic and organised manner and right now, nothing has been announced as yet by them.”
At a Durga Puja event, last week, Ayan had told the media, that directing Brahmastra was a once in a lifetime opportunity and they were hoping for a mid-2020 release. He added that there was lots of VFX and technology in the film and the team wanted to make it in the right way so they need more time. Ayan said that while they were aiming for next year, they didn’t want to announce right in case if they had to change the date again, it would not be correct.
So, if everything works out, Ranbir and Alia fans can expect a big surprise tomorrow!
