Riteish Deshmukh’s directorial debut, Ved, is all set to hit the silver screen this week on December 30. Apart from being Riteish’s debut as a director, the upcoming Marathi film will also mark the debut of popular TV actress Jiya Shankar. Ahead of the release, Jiya spoke about her acting career, her opinion on various aspects of the entertainment industry and her experience of working on a Marathi film exclusively with Bollywood Hungama.
When asked what the audience can expect from Ved while commenting on people presuming that it is a love triangle, Jiya asserted, “Ved has two love stories, (but) it’s not a triangle. It has two individual love stories where initially it's me and Riteish. And then it's Riteish and Genelia. Nobody's coming in between anyone's love story”
Sharing her experience of working with Riteish and Genelia, the Kaatelal and Sons actress said, “For me, shooting for it was just like I'm doing my job. I don't care who is in front of me. The moment I hear ‘action’, everything stops for me. I am playing a different character. All my concentration is that, so I look at the other person like my actor, my co-worker; I look at him in obey. I don't care if it's with Riteish Deshmukh or Salman Khan.”
As the conversation progressed further, we asked Jiya to state the reasons why Ved would be worth watching apart from being a romantic film. In her response, she said, “There is action and the way it is choreographed. The film feels real. It is not made dramatically. People can relate to it. In addition, the film also focuses on different relationships.”
We also asked her to share a memory from the sets of Ved, which is going to be with her forever. The actress said, “The entire film is going to stay with me forever. Every single day of it is going to stay with me forever because it's my first film with such big stars. Being a part of Ajay-Atul’s music is one of my dreams that has come true. I can't count on one single moment or one day. It was every single day for me. I lived in every single moment of it. There is one beautiful scene that I have done for a song which has this line where I ask how much you love me and he says what I do is not love, it's madness. I want to see myself in that particular scene.”
