Aamir Khan had a fascinating and entertaining conversation with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, during the Lokmat Maharashtrian Of The Year 2026 held at the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai. After speaking on many serious topics like social media addiction, AQI, mental health, etc. Aamir ended the conversation with a fun round.
Aamir Khan told Devendra Fadnavis, “I have played many roles in my career, and I’ll name a few of them. You, meanwhile, have come across many political figures. So, when I mention the names of my characters, I want you to tell me which politician resembles each one.”
Devendra Fadnavis joked, “I have a condition – I want lifelines, I want opinion from those in the front rows and also a 50-50 option.”
Aamir Khan took the first name, “Raj from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.” After thinking for a few minutes, the CM answered, “Girish Mahajan!”
Next, Aamir asked, “Munna from Rangeela.” Devendra Fadnavis laughed and said, “I won’t like to name anyone.” Aamir prodded, “There must be some tapori politician.” The CM replied, “I’ll tell you when we are alone. I won’t name that person in front of everyone!”
Aamir then mentioned, “ACP Rathod from Sarfarosh.” As the CM wondered whom he should name, Aamir hinted, “You can name yourself as well.” Devendra Fadnavis quipped, “Main toh soch raha tha ki main Rancho pe apna naam loonga!”
Aamir then asked, “Bhuvan from Lagaan.” Devendra Fadnavis stated, “The comparison is a bit different but Bhuvan is someone who unified everybody for a greater cause. That kind of sentiment is present in our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ji.”
Aamir mentioned, “DJ from Rang De Basanti,” and also spoke about his qualities, “He’s emotional and can even give up his life. He also mouths a dialogue, ‘Zindagi jeene ke do hi tarike hai. Ek, jo ho raha hai hone do aur chup chaap bardaasht karte raho. Nahin toh zimmedari uthao usse badalne ki’.”
Devendra Fadnavis was impressed and took the name of the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, “Eknath Shinde ji waise hi hai.”
Then, Aamir asked, “Who resembles Ram Shankar Nikumbh sir, from Taare Zameen Par? He’s very sensitive and lot of empathy.” Yet again, the CM took Eknath Shinde’s name. Then, Aamir said, “Rancho from 3 Idiots.” Devendra Fadnavis reiterated that he’d like to mention himself and added, “I love that character.”
Lastly, when Aamir Khan asked who resembles “Mahaveer Phogat from Dangal,” Devendra Fadnavis once again said, “That would also be Eknath Shinde ji.”
