Akshay Kumar breaks silence on Hera Pheri 3 and apologizes to fans: “I feel very sad that I’m unable to do it because I am not happy with how the things have changed”

Akshay Kumar apologetically confirms that he won’t be a part of Hera Pheri 3.

Akshay Kumar’s iconic comedy Hera Pheri has been in the news for quite some time now with regards to the casting for its threequel. Generations of fans rejoiced when the making of Hera Pheri 3 was confirmed.

Earlier, it was reported that Akshay would be doing 3 films – Hera Pheri 3, Awara Pagal Deewana 2, and Welcome 3. The talks were on between producer Firoz Nadiadwala and actor Akshay Kumar for a while now and the reports gave in a sense of excitement to all the Khiladi fans. Just days after the reports, it came to everyone’s surprise that Hera Pheri 3 is happening with Kartik Aaryan and not Akshay Kumar.

At the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2019, the actor himself confirmed the news of him not being a part of the threequel and shared why he decided to do so. “Hera Pheri has been a part of me,” Akshay said. “A lot of people have memories, even I have good memories about it and even I feel sad too that the film has not been made since so many years, like part 3 of the film. And like I said, we have to dismantle things, we have to start thinking in a different way.”

He shared, “See, the film was offered to me, I was told about it. But the screenplay, script and everything... I was not satisfied; I was not happy with it. I have to just not say it, I have to do what people want to see and that is why, I backed out. I took a step behind. For me, it’s a part of my life, my journey in a huge way. I feel very sad too. I feel very sad that I’m unable to do it because I am not happy with how the things have changed... with the creative thing. I am not happy with it so, I just backed out.”

Further apologizing to his fans and thanking them for their appreciation, Akshay said, “I just want to tell my fans that I’m very grateful for them. Just yesterday, I saw ‘No Raju, No Hera Pheri.’ As much as hurt they are, I myself am hurt. It’s a very sad thing, but at the same time they made it trending, thank you very much. I cannot tell you how much my fans show their love and support to me... I apologize to them that I won’t be doing Hera Pheri. Sorry.”

Hera Pheri was an instant hit among the masses due to the actors’ comic timings and the chaotic humour. Over the years it has gained a cult status. Apart from Paresh Rawal as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, the franchise featured Suniel Shetty as Shyam and Akshay Kumar as Raju.

Hera Pheri 3 will in all possibilities be directed by Anees Bazmee and the talks at the moment are in advanced stages. The movie is currently in the scripting and pre-production stage.
