Even in its third week, Sooryavanshi is turning out to be the preferred choice of audiences. That can be seen from the fact that it collected Rs. 3.26 crores on its third Friday while new release Bunty Aur Babli 2 was lower at Rs. 3 crores.

The Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty film is going great guns and has pretty much come on its own, what with collections rising instead of falling from Thursday score of Rs. 3.16 crores. That is truly remarkable since there is a big release in front of it and still the footfalls are not decreasing. The film has now collected Rs. 169.50 crores and in the process Dabangg 3 lifetime of Rs. 169 crores has been surpassed in 15 days. There is good growth expected today and tomorrow, and that should allow it to come closer to the Rs. 180 crores mark and perhaps even surpass it before the close of run.
As for Bunty Aur Babli 2, the Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji starrer had been pushed well by Yash Raj Films and the release was wide as well. However, somehow the hype was low and then absence of a major chartbuster sing, which is much needed for a film belonging to this genre, was felt as well. Saif Ali Khan’s last solo release Jawaani Jaaneman had collected Rs. 3.24 crores on its opening day while Rani Mukherji’s Mardaani 2 had done well with Rs. 3.80 crores on its release. This was one of the major reasons why it was predicted in this column that Bunty Aur Babli 2 will start in Rs. 4-5 crores range due to the two actors coming together. However that didn’t turn out to be the case.
