When the frog asked for the Princess' kiss she refused at once - but as soon as she got to know him she realised that he was the one. This is how P.I. Works. P.I. is no 3 Idiots - neither is it some masterpiece rom-com people would cherish for generations to come. It's a simple film with a simple story - with its heart in the right place. P.I. is like the many American Rom-Coms you see coming out almost ten-fold from Hollywood - all of them having that feel-good, glamour quotient about them that allows you to temporarily get lost in the proceedings.
The first half is pretty much average. The university dosses are nothing new except that they've been shot in a fantastic way - courtesy of Santosh Thundiyil. The film really kicks off when Uday returns to Alisha due to an unforeseen ideal. The film gets interesting - not because you want to know what happens - it's because you know what's going to happen and want to see the couple together.
You root for the characters.
PC delivers yet another wonderful performance. She did what Jennifer Garner did for 13 going on 30 - escalating an average film to dizzying heights with a charming, heart-warming performance. Uday is the star of the show. Dino is competent.
Overall P.I. is a must watch for girlies and maybe a onetime watch for guys. But it's definitely a hit for the romantics.
