While Sathyaraj has been a popular star down South for years, the actor gained global fame with Baahubali as Kattapa, and played a significant role in the blockbuster Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express. The Bollywood film featured him as Deepika Padukone’s father, who is expected to be a don who ruled their village. While speaking to ETimes, the actor revealed that he was hesitant to take up the role and even approached Rohit Shetty regarding the same.

In the interview, Sathyaraj spoke about how he did the role in Chennai Express where he was quoted saying, “When the makers approached me for Chennai Express, I heard the story and I felt that it was not that great a role for me. I conveyed this to the director (Rohit Shetty) and also to Shah Rukh Khan, but I eventually did the film, because I like Shah Rukh very much.” Adding further, mentioned that the superstar has many blockbusters to his name including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and that he is a fan of SRK’s acting.
On the other hand, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Sathyaraj also confessed that he has received many offers from the industry but was unable to take it up. The actor was offered a film with Tiger Shroff which required him to shoot in London for 40 days but he was unable to sign it because of family commitments. He also added that he was approached for a Vidya Balan starrer but had to give it a skip due to its date clash with another film Veetla Vishesham. The actor also mentioned that he is the most comfortable with his own mother-tongue and even English he can manage. But he can surely do movies in other languages with a prompt.
