Rajinikanth clarifies touching UP CM Yogi Adityanath's feet; says, “It is my habit”

Actor Rajinikanth has clarified his gesture of touching Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's feet, saying that it is his habit to touch the feet of yogis and sanyasis out of respect. According to a report by ANI, Rajinikanth was responding to the criticism he faced on social media for touching Adityanath's feet.

However, Rajinikanth said that he has been touching the feet of yogis and sanyasis and that it is a sign of respect for them. "It is my habit to touch the feet of yogis or sanyasis and take their blessings, even if they are younger than me. I have done that only," Rajinikanth said.

In addition, a report by PTI quoted the actor thanking the people for making his latest movie Jailer a "grand success". He said that he is happy that the film has been appreciated by the audience.

When asked a question about the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rajinikanth said he did not want to talk about politics. He said that he is currently focusing on his film career.

For the unversed, besides being an actor, Rajinikanth is also a political figure and has been associated with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party. Meanwhile, Adityanath is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is known for his Hindutva ideology.

Speaking of the working front, Rajinikanth is currently seen in his latest release, Jailer.
