Nagarjuna Akkineni on the double celebration in his family, "I couldn't be happier"

There is double celebration for Nagarjuna Akkineni and his family. His elder son Naga Chaitanya is all set to marry actress Sobhita Dhulipala on December 4. The veteran artiste recently announced the engagement of his younger son Akhil Akkineni with Zainab Ravdjee. Nagarjuna shares his happiness in an interview with us.

Double wedding in the family

 

Yes. My elder son is getting married on 4 December. And now my younger son too is engaged to marry. I couldn’t be happier.

 

Nag, the celebration doesn’t seem to end in your family this year

 

Ha ha, yes, all good wishes and blessings. First it was my father (Telugu screen legend Akkineni Nageswara Rao)’s centenary year, and so much love for him…My God! It was overwhelming. I was in Goa for the International Film Festival Of India where they honoured my father. I was just swept away by the love for my father.

 

You shared very interesting anecdotes on him at Goa

 

He was the kind of rare individual about whom no words can suffice. I wish I was even a fraction of what he is.

 

You are more than that, and now before the wedding you can catch your breath

 

Ha, yes. 4 December is around the corner. My elder son (Naga Chaitanya) will tie the knot with his ladylove. We are hosting the wedding at the Annapurna Studios, the family studio that my father built. When we thought of a venue for the wedding, we couldn’t think of any better temple of worship than our studio.

 

Is it going to be a lavish wedding?

 

We planned it as an intimate ceremony, just family and friends. But even by limiting the guest list, we expect quite a large attendance. It can’t be helped. There are so many people, family and friends, who are part of my family’s journey. We have a large family, so does Sobhita.

 

Is it going to be a traditional wedding?

 

It is going to be a traditional South India wedding. The full elaborate ceremony. We don’t want to miss out on anything.

 

And now even before your elder son’s wedding, the younger one is engaged

 

Yes! I am so, so happy for Akhil. He is a good boy and deserves every happiness. His fiancée Zainab is a lovely girl and I am so happy they have decided to spend their lives together.

 

So, two weddings in the family?

 

Yes, but Akhil and Zainab’s wedding will happen in 2025.
