Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to join Karthik and Mani Ratnam for the Mumbai schedule of Ponniyin Selvan

Ace Filmmaker Mani Ratnam is gearing up for the shoot of his passion project Ponniyin Selvan: I (PS1). The film is an adaptation of author Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel with the same name. It stars South superstar Karthik and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.

The film is about to kickstart its next schedule as Mani Ratnam has arrived in Mumbai. The team of the film will shoot some of the major sequences in Mumbai in the coming days. In the Mumbai schedule, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who plays the antagonist in the film will be participating along with actor Karthi.

 

Apart from Aishwarya and Karthi, the film also features prominent stars from the South like Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu and Ashwin Kakumanu in pivotal roles. While actors like R Sarathkumar, R Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj and Rahman have supporting roles.

 

Mani Ratnam's passion project, which was revived in 2019, was initially attempted in the 1990s and then in the 2010s. While a large portion of PS1 was shot in various schedules beginning in 2019, it was irregularly completed owing to the two years of the pandemic. The film will be released later this year and will be incorporated with music by AR Rahman.
