EXCLUSIVE: Benicio Del Toro on rising star Chase Infiniti - “She’s one hell of a talent”

When a newcomer holds her own alongside Hollywood titans like Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio Del Toro — and under the direction of Paul Thomas Anderson, no less — people take notice. That’s exactly what Chase Infiniti has managed to do in her very first feature film, One Battle After Another.

Benicio Del Toro, who plays the enigmatic Sensei Sergio St. Carlos in the highly anticipated action-drama, offered glowing praise for his young co-star. “When I worked with her, she was full of energy and really present, and right there in the moment,” Del Toro said in an exclusive conversation. “I noticed she already had this ‘language’ with Paul — the actor-director language. It might be a look, or a move, or a smile, but it’s based on trust and mutual respect. In other words, they were in sync.”

 

For a first-time feature actor, such synergy with a filmmaker of Anderson’s calibre is rare. But according to Del Toro, Infiniti displayed a natural ease and fearlessness on set that suggests she is more than ready for the spotlight.

 

“She’s one hell of a talent that everyone will enjoy in this film,” he continued. “It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch her career go up and up.”

 

In One Battle After Another, Infiniti plays Willa, the daughter of DiCaprio’s character Bob, whose disappearance sets the film’s intense narrative into motion. While the movie delivers explosive action sequences and high-stakes drama, Del Toro’s comments suggest that Infiniti’s performance will provide much of the film’s emotional anchor.

 

For Anderson, who has a long history of guiding actors to some of their most memorable work — from Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood to Alana Haim in Licorice Pizza — Infiniti seems poised to be his latest discovery. If Del Toro’s words are anything to go by, she may well be Hollywood’s next breakout name.

 

With One Battle After Another set to release on September 26, 2025, audiences won’t have to wait long to see why Benicio Del Toro and Paul Thomas Anderson are betting big on Chase Infiniti.
