Warner Bros. has released a second trailer and a brand new poster for the highly anticipated sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. This marks the triumphant return of Michael Keaton to one of his most iconic roles. Keaton once again portrays the bio-exorcist with a penchant for mayhem, Beetlejuice. Joining him for this spooky adventure are returning cast members Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara as the Deetz family women, Lydia and Delia, respectively.

New to the cast is Jenna Ortega, the breakout star of the Netflix series Wednesday. Ortega takes on the role of Lydia's rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid. The new poster pays homage to the original 1988 film's theatrical poster, featuring the entire cast including some special guests, all gathered around the iconic Deetz house with Beetlejuice perched mischievously on top.
The trailer promises a thrilling return to the wacky and wonderful world of the afterlife. Details about Astrid's character are still under wraps, but the trailer hints at her potentially being the one to unleash chaos by unknowingly reopening the doorway to the afterlife.
The reunion of Burton and Keaton is a dream come true for fans of the original 1988 classic. Keaton will once again slip into the manic and mischievous role of Beetlejuice, the poltergeist with a penchant for the bizarre. Ryder reprises her role as Lydia Deetz, the goth teenager who inadvertently summoned Beetlejuice in the first film. Catherine O’Hara returns as the eccentric Delia Deetz, Lydia’s over-the-top mother. Jenna Ortega takes center stage as Lydia's rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid.
The story centers around a family tragedy that brings three generations of the Deetzes back to their ancestral home in Winter River. However, their hopes for a peaceful homecoming are dashed when they discover the house is still haunted – and not just by any ordinary ghost. The mischievous Beetlejuice is still lurking about, and a curious discovery by Astrid throws everything into chaos. She stumbles upon a mysterious model of the town hidden in the attic, and in a moment of youthful curiosity, accidentally opens a portal to the afterlife.
With Lydia haunted by unresolved issues from the past and both the living world and the afterlife in turmoil, it's only a matter of time before someone utters the forbidden name: Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!
Tim Burton himself takes the helm as director, drawing from a screenplay penned by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creative minds behind the hit Netflix series Wednesday. The story concept is a collaborative effort between Gough, Millar, and Seth Grahame-Smith, building upon the iconic characters originally created by Michael McDowell and Larry Wilson.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will have its world premiere at the prestigious 81st Venice Film Festival, kicking off the Lido festivities with a bang on Wednesday, August 28.
The film boasts a powerhouse crew, including Haris Zambarloukos in cinematography, production designer Mark Scruton, and editor Jay Prychidny. Adding her signature touch to the costumes is Colleen Atwood. The Oscar-winning creature and special makeup effects maestro Neal Scanlan, and the score by Danny Elfman, a longtime Burton collaborator, rounds up the technical crew.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a theatrical release only, hitting IMAX screens on September 6, 2024, in the US. International audiences can catch the film starting September 4, 2024.
