The Trial trailer launch: Kajol calls her OTT debut project a “slam dunk”; says, “My script is my king”
After much anticipation, Disney+ Hotstar finally released the trailer of its upcoming web show, The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha. Starring Kajol in the lead, it is a Hindi adaptation of the US series, The Good Wife. While sharing her thoughts on doing the Hindi adaptation of The Good Wife, Kajol called it “a slam dunk.”
During the trailer launch event, Kajol asserted, “Honestly, it was a slam dunk for me because I have watched the original show. And I loved it at that point of time. And that's where the discussion with Deepak (Dhar, Founder & CEO, Banijay Asia) actually came in. The character was amazing. The concept was fabulous. But I did have a question as to how it would be adapted in Hindi. And that's where Suparn (S Varma, Showrunner and Director for Disney+ Hotstar’s The Trial) came in. And that's where the entire narration came in for the script.”
She further added, “For me, it really is about the script. It has to be about the script. I will say this right now that the script is never about only one character. It's always about everybody. So everybody's character in this series is so well-rounded, so well-written. And I really, really loved the script. So yeah, my script is my king.”
The Trial - Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha is a gritty courtroom drama that unravels moral dilemmas that drive Noyonika to take charge of her family and her independence. Driven to prove herself in the competitive world of law and navigating her way through complicated relationships while seeking justice for her husband, Noyonika treads through tough challenges served by her fate. It will start streaming on the OTT platform from July 14.
