Siddharth Anand promises to “raise the bar” with Shah Rukh Khan’s King in Fighter’s second anniversary post

Filmmaker Siddharth Anand took a moment on Republic Day 2026 to reflect on the second anniversary of Fighter, describing the aerial action film as his “best work” so far and signalling that his next project, King, will aim to surpass it in scale and impact.

In a message shared on social platform X, Anand celebrated Fighter’s journey since its release on January 25, 2024. The film starred Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor, and marked a significant entry in Indian action cinema with its emphasis on aerial sequences. In his note, the director highlighted two scenes that he said continue to resonate emotionally.

 

“Two years of my best work. Fighter. The film I’m so proud of. Seeing so many scenes on my timeline reminded me how beautiful those moments were. The scene between Patty and Saachi at the cemetery, and the scene with Minni and her father — both are the most emotional scenes I’ve ever shot. They will remain timeless for me,” he wrote.

 

Anand’s message combined appreciation for what Fighter had achieved with anticipation for his upcoming film King, which reunites him with Shah Rukh Khan. “Thank you for the love. Now, time to better it. King,” he added, suggesting that the new project will build on his past work while aiming even higher in cinematic ambition.

 

 

King is scheduled for release over the Christmas weekend later this year. The film’s makers, including Shah Rukh Khan and Anand himself, officially announced the window following teasers that have generated early buzz among audiences. Visuals released alongside the announcement portray Khan in a dynamic new avatar, fuelling excitement about the action-driven narrative and its potential placement as a year-end blockbuster.
