Shah Rukh Khan pays heartfelt tribute to Piyush Pandey: “He carried his genius so lightly”
The advertising industry is mourning the loss of one of its greatest creative minds, Piyush Pandey, who passed away in Mumbai on October 24, 2025, following a brief illness. The creative visionary behind timeless campaigns like Fevicol’s 'unbreakable bonds' and Cadbury’s 'joyful dances,' Pandey redefined Indian advertising with his distinctive blend of wit, emotion, and cultural authenticity.

Among the many tributes pouring in from across the country, Shah Rukh Khan shared a heartfelt message remembering the late adman. Posting a monochrome portrait of Pandey, the actor wrote, “Working and being around Piyush Pandey always felt effortless and fun. Was an honour being part of the pure magic he created. He carried his genius so lightly and revolutionised the ad industry in India. Rest in Peace my friend. Will miss you lots.”
Pandey’s association with some of India’s most beloved campaigns — from 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara' to Fevicol, Asian Paints, and Cadbury — made him a household name whose work transcended generations. His ability to capture India’s diversity and spirit through simple yet profound storytelling earned him both national admiration and global recognition.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over Pandey’s passing, acknowledging his monumental influence on Indian communication and creativity. “Shri Piyush Pandey Ji was admired for his creativity. He made a monumental contribution to the world of advertising and communications. I will fondly cherish our interactions over the years. Saddened by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” he wrote.
Echoing similar sentiments, Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Pained by the demise of Piyush Pandey Ji. A stalwart in the advertising and communication industry, he set high standards in connecting with the masses with creativity. My condolences to his family, friends, and admirers. Om Shanti.”
Born in Jaipur in 1955, Pandey joined Ogilvy in 1982 and rose to become its Executive Chairman for India and Global Chief Creative Officer. With a career spanning over four decades, his work earned him international accolades and left an enduring imprint on Indian popular culture.
