Nitin Desai funeral: Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker offer last respect to Lagaan art director

Art director Nitin Desai was found dead at his studio in Karjat on Wednesday. He was 58. Desai's death has come as a shock to the film fraternity. Actor Aamir Khan, who worked with Desai on Lagaan, attended his last rites. Meanwhile, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker also offered their condolences.

For the unversed, Desai was a well-known art director in the Hindi film industry. He made his debut in 1989 with the film Parinda. He went on to work on several other projects, including Lagaan, 1942: A Love Story, Khamoshi: The Musical, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Mission Kashmir, Devdas, Munnabhai M.B.B.S., Dostana, and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai.

 

His last few projects as an art director were Panipat (2019) and Paurashpur (2020). In Paurashpur, he was credited as a production designer.

 

Speaking of his death, the police said that Desai was found hanging from the ceiling of his studio. A postmortem was conducted by a team of four doctors, who concluded that the cause of death was suicide.
