The Night Manager director Sandeep Modi compares Aditya Roy Kapur to Robert Downey Jr; says, “Thematically, they are very similar”

Binge worthy spy thriller The Night Manager has been loved by fans, critics and the film fraternity equally. Recently, Disney+ Hotstar announced the premiere of Hotstar Specials’ The Night Manager: Part 2. While first part saw the clash between Shelly Rungta (Anil Kapoor) and Shaan Sengupta (Aditya Roy Kapur), the second part promises to feature some interesting turn of events. As the director of the show Sandeep Modi discussed about it, he drew comparisons between Shaan and the iconic character of Robert Downey Jr, Tony Stark aka Iron Man.

Director Sandeep Modi is said to have left no stone unturned in turning his vision into reality as he brings to a new twist in the relationship of Shelly Rungta and Shaan Sengupta with The Night Manager Part 2. Recently Sandeep left many in surprise as he recalled adding an Iron Man connection to the series. The filmmaker, who is a big fan of Iron Man and Tony Stark, revealed that he picked some nuances of Tony Stark’s character to develop the crux of his hero, Shaan Sengupta aka Aditya Roy Kapur.

 

Talking about this, Sandeep said, “Tony Stark was against the idea of the misuse of weapons and if you realize Shaan (played by Aditya Roy Kapur) is also against the same. Thematically, they are very similar. And somewhere all heroes have this one thing which binds them which is their moral compass. I think both Iron Man and The Night Manager have the same ethos in a way.”

 

The Night Manager, which is an adaptation of John le Carré’s novel by the same name, has been adapted to the Indian audience and the show is said to have been mounted on a large scale. With Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur seen in drastically new avatars, the show features Sobhita Dhulipala as Shelly’s girlfriend Kaveri and Tillotama Shome as a RAW agent. The Night Manager Part 2, which takes off from where the first part ended, is said to be a journey of twists, turns and thrill and is slated to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar from June 30.
