Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi, Mudassar Aziz, Bhushan Kumar, Juno Chopra and Shiv Chanana attended the trailer launch of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do at Mumbai's Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The trailer indicated that the male protagonist cheats on his wife. But Ayushmann assured that the film doesn't give out any wrong message.
Ayushmann Khurrana said, “It's an iconic franchise from the family of B R Films and Juno Chopra. It started in 1978 with Sanjeev Kumar sahab. A film of the series released in 2019 and now, in 2026, we are back with Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. I have always been a fan of Sanjeev Kumar sahab aur woh kahaani jo wahan se shuru hui thi, baaki kaafi filmon ne bhi apnaayi hai. But the way Mudassar Aziz has woven the idea of the story in a classic way is absolutely brilliant.”
He continued, “I will not call it a romcom. I'll just call it a pure comedy. More than romance, there's an abundance of comedy happening with these four characters. At the same time, my character of Prajapati Pandey is a green flag! Uska moral compass bilkul correct hai.”
As expected, the attendees were surprised. Ayushmann Khurrana explained, “We are not promoting any infidelity as it's a family film. Sabko yeh film dekh ke dekh kar bahut mazaa aayega. It's just a comedy of errors. It's not like Prajapati is having an extramarital affair.”
At a later point, Rakul Preet Singh added, “This character is a bechara. Woh kuch galat nahin kar raha hai. As Ayushmann rightly said, our film is not promoting infidelity or an extramarital affair. It's a comedy of errors and it happens with many people. Hum karte kuch aur hai, log samajte kuch aur hai, ho kuch aur jaata hai aur nazariya kuch aur ho jaata hai. Hence, many people will be able to relate to it.”
Ayushmann Khurrana further said, “I want to do films that my kids can watch. In fact, I got my kids to watch the edit of this film! They really loved it. My benchmark sets there. If kids are loving it, then I am sure it's a wholesome family film. I am sure people are waiting to see a laugh riot. They haven't seen such a film in a long time.”
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do releases in cinemas on May 15.
