Naseeruddin Shah says he confronted Neeraj Pandey on all four terrorist characters in A Wednesday being Muslims: “I asked him if it was deliberate”

Naseeruddin Shah is currently promoting his ZEE5 series Taj: Reign of Revenge. In a recent interview with Indian Express, the veteran actor said that hating Muslims has become fashionable. He recalled a conversation with filmmaker Neeraj Pandey while doing the film A Wednesday and the hidden meaning behind the movie.

Naseeruddin Shah said that the movie had all terrorists who were Muslims when the movie was trying to deliver the message that hate and terrorism do not have a religion or community. Speaking to Indian Express, he said. “There was a hidden message in it. All four terrorists were Muslims. I even asked Neeraj if it was deliberate. I asked him why they didn’t have a Tamilian also? He said there’s nothing political in this.”

 

Naseeruddin continued, “There was no Naxal, No Maoist or from the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam), all four of them, Muslims.”

 

He previously said, “The kind of stuff that’s pure, undisguised propaganda is being lapped up and it’s a reflection of the zeitgeist of the times. Muslim hating is fashionable these days, even among educated people. It’s what the ruling party has very cleverly tapped into this nerve. We talk about secular this, democracy that, so why are you introducing religion into everything?”

 

Meanwhile, Taj: Reign of Revenge stars Aashim Gulati, Sauraseni Maitra, Shubham Kumar Mehra, Abhimanyu Singh, Arjun Bajwa, Rajiv Adatia, Ayush Mehra, Barkha Bisht, Sayantani Ghosh, Zain Imam, Aamir Ali, Ravi Dubey, Vivaan Shah, Saqib Saleem, Siddharth Nigam, Vivek Dahiya, Gurfateh Singh Pirzada, Manish Kalra. Season two dropped on June 2.
