Mili star Janhvi Kapoor on living a luxurious life in LA during acting school: ‘Main kya bewakoof aurat thi, vahan jaa kar acting seekhi’

Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for her upcoming film, Mili. The actress has been leaving no stone unturned in the promotional tour. Before her debut in Dhadak, the actress said that she was living a wonderful life in America while in acting school but she learnt a lot from the people while working on her debut film.

In a conversation with Mashable India, Janhvi Kapoor recalled her experience of studying in LA at an acting school. She said, “For the first time, I interacted with a bunch of people who had no clue who my parents were. They actually liked me. So, I thought maybe I have something to offer as a person. They will laugh at my jokes not because my parents are famous, but generally. So, it was a good confidence boost. I was independent. Though I wasn’t sincere about attendance, but my teachers loved me.”

 

The actress said that while she was living the luxurious life in LA, she felt she didn’t know about the culture until she worked on her debut film Dhadak. “Although it opened my eyes a bit, but I was in the lap of luxury, and it was counterproductive. LA and America, everything was on fingertips, but I didn’t learn anything about my culture and country. It was during Dhadak’s shoot that I realised, ‘main kya bewakoof aurat thi, vahan jaa kar acting seekhi. (I am such a stupid woman to go and learn acting in LA). I should have learnt about our people,” she said.

 

Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor, who was last seen in the 2022 movie Good Luck Jerry, will next star in the upcoming film Mili, which is a Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Helen. The film also stars Manoj Pahwa and Sunny Kaushal. Mili is being produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor. It is directed by Mathukutty Xavier who directed the original film. Produced by Zee Studios, Mili is scheduled to release in cinemas on November 4, 2022.

 

Helen is a story of a young nurse who wishes to relocate to Canada. However, things take an ugly turn when she does not return home from work and suddenly disappears. The film stars Anna Ben in the title role, while Lal, Noble Babu Thomas, Aju Varghese, Rony David, and Binu Pappu appear in supporting roles.

 

Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor will next star in Mr. and Mrs. Mahi starring alongside Roohi co-star Rajkummar Rao and Bawaal with Varun Dhawan. Both projects are scheduled for release in 2023.
