Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai has extended his support and blessings to the upcoming revival of Khal Nayak, as the iconic film gears up for a new chapter with Khal Nayak Returns. The announcement comes shortly after a major collaboration between Jio Studios, Three Dimension Motion Pictures, and Aspect Entertainment, backed by actor Sanjay Dutt and entrepreneur Aksha Kamboj.
Taking to social media, Subhash Ghai shared an image from the launch event and wrote, “FINALLY. .. KHALNAYAK RETURNS 🎥 Yes. Today it was a big launch of KHALNAYAK RETURNS with SANJAY DUTT to be produced by #Jio studios #Aspect entertainment #three dimension motion pictures n Mukta arts ltd N I was happy to experience the passion n energy of sanjoo Manyataji aksha ji n jyoti deshpande ji n abhishek of Aspect entertainment n everyone there 🕺🏽 I am sure this sequel is gonna be a rocking nation wise My sincere blessings 🙏🏽🙏🏽”.

The filmmaker’s endorsement holds significance given his role as the creator of the 1993 original, which was produced under Mukta Arts. The film went on to become one of the defining titles of its era, known for its storytelling and Sanjay Dutt’s portrayal of Ballu, a character that continues to remain part of popular culture.
The new development follows the official acquisition of rights by Sanjay Dutt and Aksha Kamboj from Subhash Ghai and Mukta Arts. The project is being developed in association with Jio Studios, with Jyoti Deshpande attached to creatively helm the venture. While details regarding the format remain undisclosed, the film is expected to revisit the legacy of Khal Nayak for a contemporary audience.
Subhash Ghai’s public message reflects his confidence in the team leading the project. His reference to the “passion and energy” at the launch highlights the collaborative spirit behind the revival.
