Kareena Kapoor Khan celebrates mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore’s 81st birthday with sweet family post; watch

On December 8, 2025, Kareena Kapoor paid a touching tribute to her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore, on the occasion of her 81st birthday. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kareena shared three photos featuring Sharmila alongside other family members. In the first image, Sharmila is seen sharing a warm moment with her son Saif Ali Khan and possibly grandson Taimur Ali Khan. The second shows Kareena walking beside Sharmila, and the third appears to be a nostalgic shot capturing a childhood memory between Sharmila and Taimur.

In the first pic Kareena wrote, “Happy birthday Amma,” while in the second pic, she wrote, “Always trying to follow in your footsteps,” and on the third, she stated, “All heart, always.” She captioned the full post, “Happy birthday dearest Mother-in-law.”

 

Beyond the birthday celebration, Kareena also praised Sharmila for her return to cinema. In reference to Sharmila’s comeback after nearly 14 years to Bengali cinema with the film Puratawn, Kareena hailed her as “the original Bengal tigress.”

 

In a video shared by the Puratawn team on social media, Kareena said, “Hi, this is Kareena Kapoor Khan, and I'd like to send my best wishes to the iconic, legendary Sharmila Tagore, my mother-in-law, who is finally returning to Bengali cinema after almost 14 years. She was, and always will be the original Bengal tigress.”

 

She added, “I think everyone is looking forward to seeing this beautiful film. So am I, in cinemas. So I’d like to send my heartiest congratulations and all the very best to the entire team.”
