EXCLUSIVE: Anjali Anand shares her bold take on body image and representation; says, “The day I will be happy is when people stop talking about my body”

In a much-anticipated return to the director's chair after a hiatus of seven years, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar brought forth Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film featured a stellar cast, headlined by the dynamic duo of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, and also boasted the presence of veteran actors Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan. Additionally, the film included the talents of Bengali actors Tota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly, with Anjali Anand portraying Ranveer Singh's sister. In a recent interview, Anjali Anand, who played a significant role in the film, opened up about her thoughts and experiences in the industry, particularly regarding body image and representation.

In an exclusive video interview with Bollywood Hungama, Anjali expressed her desire for the day when discussions about her body would no longer dominate conversations. She stated, “The day I will be happy is when people stop talking about my body. In any interview, in any film, in anything. I had recently come across an article about me saying, body positive pioneer of whatever. I am nothing. I am Anjali Anand and I am an actor, I am trying to make it work. That’s it.”

 

Anjali further delved into the issue of body positivity and representation in the entertainment industry. She emphasized the importance of having diverse voices and bodies on screen, highlighting that true progress is achieved by embracing representation without unnecessary fanfare. Anjali noted, “I think the more we keep emphasizing on it, the more we are glorifying it. Obviously, you need representation, that's all you need. You need to see someone like you on screen, so it makes you believe that even you can do it, if you have the talent. Then I think that's all that's needed. We just need representation without the noise.”

 

 

On the professional front, Anjali Anand is gearing up for her next project, Penthouse, where she will share the screen with stars like Bobby Deol, Mouni Roy, and Arjun Rampal.
