Bigg Boss 20: Aasif Khan’s wife Zeba REVEALS he suffered a “massive heart attack at 34”; says family received death and rape threats
Aasif Khan’s wife, Zeba, has broken her silence on the controversy surrounding the actor’s health after his confrontation with fellow Bigg Boss 20 contestant Qazi Touqeer. In a strongly worded social media statement, Zeba revealed that Aasif had suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 34 and explained why he had initially described his health scare as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Bigg Boss 20: Aasif Khan’s wife Zeba REVEALS he suffered a “massive heart attack at 34”; says family received death and rape threats
Zeba’s statement comes after Aasif and Qazi got into a heated argument over a remark about a heart attack. The disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation, with Aasif headbutting Qazi. The incident sparked a wider discussion among viewers about Aasif’s past health scare and Qazi’s comment.
Addressing the backlash, Zeba said the accusations and abuse directed at her husband and their family had compelled her to speak publicly about his medical history.

In her statement, Zeba said she had initially chosen to remain silent, hoping the controversy would settle down. However, she said the negativity surrounding Aasif had made it difficult for her to stay quiet. “Having witnessed Aasif’s pain firsthand, I feel I owe it to him and our family to share the truth,” she wrote.
Confirming the seriousness of his medical condition, she added, “Yes, Aasif had a heart attack. A massive one. At just 34.”
Zeba also expressed distress over having to make her husband’s medical records public to establish the seriousness of his experience. “It breaks my heart that I now have to share his medical reports just to prove what he went through was real. I never imagined something so personal would have to be made public for people to believe him,” she said.
Why Aasif Khan initially said it was GERD
Zeba explained that Aasif had initially attributed his health scare to GERD because he was afraid that disclosing a serious cardiac condition could affect his career and future work opportunities. “When Aasif initially said it was GERD and not a heart attack, it was out of fear. He worried that a serious health condition could cost him the projects he had worked hard for and close doors to future opportunities. In an industry where opportunities are uncertain, especially without backing, that fear was real,” she wrote.
Recalling the severity of his condition, Zeba said, “I will never forget being told his main coronary artery was completely blocked, the ICU, the stent, or holding my husband as he cried, afraid of losing the future he had dreamed of.”
Zeba added that the experience was particularly painful for Aasif because he had lost his father to a heart attack when he was a child. Surviving a similar medical emergency himself, she said, brought back the fear of losing his life and leaving his own family behind.
Zeba alleges death threats against Aasif and rape threats against family
Zeba also condemned the online abuse directed at her husband and their family amid the Bigg Boss 20 controversy. She said, “Seeing his health turned into a joke and his honesty questioned is deeply painful. This has gone beyond criticism. We have faced vile abuse, death threats against Aasif and rape threats against our family. Nothing can justify this.”
Questioning the hostility surrounding a reality television dispute, Zeba added, “Bigg Boss is an entertainment reality show. When did entertainment become an excuse for cruelty? When did disagreements become a reason to threaten someone’s life or target their family?”
She acknowledged that viewers could have differing opinions about contestants and their actions but urged them to distinguish criticism from personal attacks. “Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But criticism is not cruelty, and disagreement should never become a reason to wish harm upon someone,” she said.
Concluding her statement, Zeba said the issue extended beyond her husband and called for greater sensitivity towards people who have survived serious medical emergencies. “This is bigger than Aasif. Every survivor and every family who has watched a loved one fight for their life deserves compassion, not ridicule,” she wrote.
She added, “Behind every contestant is a real person, a family and a life beyond the cameras.”
Zeba ended her message with an appeal for empathy, saying, “Please choose empathy. Please choose kindness. No disagreement should ever come at the cost of basic human decency.”
