VASHU, ANUPAM DONATE Rs. 11 LACS:

The film industry is always the first to rise to an occasion. When any calamity strikes anywhere be it in the form of an earthquake or a cyclone our stars and film-makers are the first to contribute to a cause. The earthquake in Gujarat shattered a lot of lives, besides uprooting several cities and towns. As a token of solidarity with those families that suffered a major setback, personally and otherwise, producer Vashu Bhagnani, actor-director Anupam Kher and the unit of OM JAI JAGDISH have decided to donate Rs. 11 lacs to the needy in Gujarat. Thats too small an amount, I know, but a beginning has to be made for our fellow Indians, Anupam told us. While on solidarity, music director Anu Malik has volunteered to hold a musical nite to raise funds for the needy. But the amount collected should be distributed by the film industry leaders to the victims themselves, not through any agencies, he told us. Will the film industry and more specifically the associations of stars and producers think of ways to collect funds?
