Legal woes for TV telecast of Grand Masti

By Bollywood Hungama News Network -

For all those who were eagerly waiting the telecast of the sex comedy film Grand Masti on television tomorrow, here is some bad news for you. The Delhi High Court has now stayed the TV premiere of the said film on the grounds of the film was not certified for unrestricted public exhibition and cannot be televised under the Cable Network Regulation Act. A Bench, consisting of CJ G. Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath, was of the prima facie opinion that under the said Act, any film that has a 'U/A' or 'A' certification, which were not suitable for unrestricted exhibition, cannot be shown on television.

While the court was passing the interim order, it also issued a notice to MIB (Ministry of Information and Broadcasting) and also to the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), in which it sought their replies by September 16 of this year for a plea that sought the quashing of the U/A certification given to the movie. The said petition was filed by a certain Edara Gopi Chand through Advocate Gaurav Bansal, in which he has sought a stay on the TV telecast of Grand Masti on the grounds of the film contained objectionable contents and also double meaning dialogues.
