Arshad comes clean on charges of being 'unprofessional'

Arshad Warsi was charged of being 'unprofessional' when he walked out of Maximum just days before the shooting was supposed to kick-start in Mumbai. Though accusations came from all corners, Arshad stayed quiet and concentrated on finishing his Double Dhamaal. However, now after weeks of being quiet, he believes that enough is enough. Breaking his silence, Arshad reveals what went wrong with the film.

 

"It was never a lead role to begin with and I was supposed to do a special appearance in Maximum", informs Arshad, "When I heard the role, I wasn't kicked about it. Mujhe jama nahi. What was narrated to me was neither a special appearance nor a proper lead role. Eventually I realised that not just was it not written well, it wasn't even coming across as important enough for the film."

It wasn't the same though during the early days of film's inception when Arshad seemed really excited about the film. He had even tweeted - "Starting a new film on the 6th (Feb) called Maximum a serious film, I'm playing an encounter specialist n yes finally I am doing a negative role."

 

However his excitement seemed to fizzle out as the shooting date came close. Informs a source close to Arshad, "He had reservations about certain aspects of the film from Day One and had made his apprehensions clear to director Kabeer Kaushik and producer Vinod Bachchan. He was always a little iffy about it. When it came to take a final call, he thought of opting out of it sooner than later instead of spending a series of disinterested days on the sets."

 

Many felt though that it was his way of getting back at director Kabeer Kaushik who had earlier directed his home production Hum Tum Aur Ghost. For the uninitiated, Arshad had expressed his displeasure about Kabeer's vision for the romcom drama. Today the actor maintains that he has forgiven and forgotten.

 

"Yes, I was disappointed then but these are small things and I don't care for long. That film has come and gone. I have moved on as well. I wasn't even thinking about it when Kabeer came calling for Maximum. I have no problems if he offers me something good next as well. But when it comes to Maximum, I left it because I didn't like it", he smiles.

 

How about the accusation that he 'ditched' the makers at the last minute?

 

"If you narrate the story to me at the last minute, I am bound to opt out of it at the last minute as well, right", says Arshad in a serious tone before signing off.
