Sushant Singh Rajput has been having a tough time after his ambitious film Raabta failed to score at the box office. He delivered a huge hit last year, M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story, which earned him a lot of appreciation. He was nominated in almost all major awards in the best leading actor male category. Yet, he failed to win a single award.
IIFA was the last award ceremony of the season and the results were announced yesterday in a glittering function held at New York, USA. And once again, Sushant lost and it was Shahid Kapoor who won the Best Actor award for his stupendous performance in Udta Punjab. As soon as the result was announced, Sushant took to Twitter and wrote a cryptic tweet. He tagged official handle of IIFA Awards and then followed it by ‘hahahaha’! The reason for this cryptic tweet is unknown but many believe that he was mocking Shahid’s victory. The fact that this tweet was made immediately after Shahid took the trophy made it all the more mystifying.
Before the awards were announced, Sushant performed with his Raabta co-star Kriti Sanon on the chartbusters 70s songs. There were reports that Sushant and Kriti are a couple but all these stories died a natural death after their film released.
On the films front, Sushant is all set to work with his Kai Po Che director Abhishek Kapoor in Kedarnath, which also marks the debut of Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan. It is being co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, with whom Sushant had worked in the popular TV show Pavitra Rishta. Besides Kedarnath, Sushant has also signed Tarun Mansukhani’s Drive, which is an official remake of the Hollywood film of the same name, and Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s space drama Chandamama Door Ke.
