Vikram Phadnis’ collection at the Lakme India Fashion Week 2008 was glamourous, classy and very funky. One of the top designers of Bollywood, he started his career as a fashion choreographer and has no formal training in designing. But today he dresses up the who’s who of the industry, from Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Madhuri Dixit, Urmila Matondkar to Malaika Arora Khan, the list in endless. Vikram Phadnis’ collection at LIFW was a completely commercial one. There was nothing in the collection which was just for the ramp value or shock value. Every design was something that would actually sell the moment it is unveiled. The collection was very beautiful and Indian from the soul to the fabric to the way he designed it to the silhouettes. However, there were hints of the western silhouettes as well. But, by and large, it was an Indian collection. Vikram’s colour palette was on the whole very vibrant and hues of reds, oranges, purples, beiges, oranges and greens were used in abundance.
